Many of the executives surveyed for Progressive Grocer’s 77th Annual Report of the Grocery Industry are more optimistic as they set their agendas for 2010. When asked, “Compared with a year ago, are you more or less optimistic about the retailing climate for supermarkets?”, nearly half (45.9 percent) said they are more optimistic. Only 23.6 percent are less optimistic. That’s essentially a flip-flop from last year’s data, when 46 percent of retailers said they were less optimistic about the retailing climate.
