he signs are everywhere. Temperatures are creeping higher. Daylight hours will soon be at their peak. Folks are spending more time outdoors. Impromptu gatherings with friends and family are on the rise. All are sure signs that summer grilling season is upon us.
While year-round grilling continues to gain steam, a long, snowy winter in many parts of the country made it more difficult for many to embrace the all-season grates, making this year’s countdown to Memorial Day weekend — which traditionally marks the official start of grilling season — all the more compelling. “The summer grilling season is huge for us,” declares Scott Karns, president of Mechanicsburg, Pa.-based Karns Quality Foods. “We are going to do additional promotions for grill-ready products — kabob sticks, mari56
