2009 Corporate Profile Special Advertising Section Java Jacket, Inc. COMPANY HISTORY In the fall of 1991, Jay Sorensen invented the original green, recycled, best-insulating coffee cup sleeve on the market. Inspiration comes from strange places. On his way to taking his daughter Ryeder to school, Jay dropped a cup of hot coffee on his lap because the cup was too hot, which got him to thinking there must be a better way to get your joe to go. With little capital, the Sorensen house became company headquarters. Sorensen went after his dream by selling to local coffee shops out of the back of their car. Sales percolated quickly after Jay and wife Colleen went to their first annual Coffee Fest in Seattle. The family-run business has now sold over one billion cup sleeves by putting their customers’ comfort and satisfaction first. They sell to small espresso stands, as well as some of the largest coffee chains. They deeply believe in supporting the health of the planet and giving back to the community, and they actively support Coffee Kids, the Nature Conservancy, and the Cheetah Conservation Foundation. PRODUCTS Java Jacket coffee sleeves protect your customers’ hands from hot and cold to-go beverages. They provide a surface that is easy to hold, and they even help catch drips while they’re in use. The award-winning design uses patented embossed nubbins that allow insulating air to pass through the Java Jacket sleeve. They come preassembled in 100 percent recycled natural Kraft, and 100 percent recyclable, compostable white paper. They come in two sizes to fit 8- to 20-ounce cups. Custom printing is available to personalize your logo for private and/or promotional use.
