The announcement of NSBE’s 2009–10 National Executive Board and Distinguished Chapters of the Year will immediately follow the Golden Torch Awards presentations. A VIP reception will be held from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. The NSBE Golden Torch Awards link the accomplishments of distinguished black engineers and other black technical professionals with the dreams of college-bound students. Since its inception, the awards have provided more than $330,000 in scholarships to support ambitious high school students, who will, through their achievements, contribute to the legacy of NSBE. Award winners and audience members alike will receive celebrity treatment at the 12th Annual NSBE Golden Torch Awards, the climactic closing of this year’s NSBE Annual National Convention. Attendees of this black-tie-optional event — honoring the best, brightest and most community-minded black technologists and scientists — will see themselves on jumbo screens as they stroll down the red carpet.
