thE ProgrAMs zoNE summer Camping Conferences 2009 N SBE’s annual Summer Camping Conferences (SCCs) have inspired generations of NSBE Jr. members to become engineers, by providing fun, high-energy learning experiences. This year’s weekend events were no exception. region ii north carolina state University, JUly 24–26 “As an alumni volunteer, I was Engineering | Construction | Environmental | Architecture SERVING impressed with the drive, motivation and commitment to the mission demonstrated by the young leaders and volunteers. Although I only participated in a small portion of the SCC, it was still remarkable to be present and part of excellence. It is encouraging to witness the mission at its best. The leadership I witnessed was indeed a beautiful sight to see. Thank you for opening up the opportunity to volunteer. My hope is that the passion and commitment demonstrated continues well throughout the careers of all involved. They were very willing to interact. It’s what we have in common – a commitment to providing superior service. region vi california state Polytechnic University, Pomona, JUly 24–26 “One hundred students flocked to the campus of Cal Poly Pomona for SCC during the weekend of July 24–26. SCC was not only exciting for those involved, but it was also rewarding in that it allowed young students to learn about engineering and the other STEM fields. Although more than half of the students attending SCC were new to NSBE, there were groups that were interested in starting their own NSBE Jr. chapters. Pre-college students interacted with collegiate members and chose their own mentors, who were available to help or provide answers about NSBE, academics, STEM fields or, simply, anything.
