Please join us to kick off Outdoor +
Snow Show. We need to mobilize
our industry on the most pressing
environmental issue of our time:
climate change. With the latest UN
climate report clearly stating that
"deeper and faster emissions cuts
are now required" to avoid the worst
impacts of climate change, it's clear
that as an industry, we have to act
in a meaningful and ambitious way.
We need urgent action, and we
won't get there without courageous
business leaders stepping up. We've
assembled a group of executives to
discuss their commitment to lead
on climate change and to outline
achievable strategies that every
business can act on right now. Join
SIA, OIA, and NSAA for an inspiring
conversation and clear direction
on how you and your company can
effect change. Kate Williams, CEO of
1% for the Planet, will moderate the

activation featuring renowned muralist and adventurer Patrick Maxcy. The
mural will be available for purchase
via silent auction. Profits from the sale
of the artwork will be donated directly
to The Surfrider Foundation.
Sherpa Adventure Gear Call to Action

Throughout the Show, Sherpa
Adventure Gear will be donating
an extra day of school for a child in
Nepal for every person who stops
by the booth and participates in the
brand's on-site activation. It's as
easy as filling out a postcard noting
your favorite childhood book and
pinning it up in the booth. Bring a
friend (or two)!
Ecco DIY Leather Workshop

Discover Protect Our Winters' new mission to mobilize the outdoor industry
on climate.
For the past six months, the outdoor industry's leader in environmental protection has been involved in a massive undertaking. "We've been doing qualitative
and quantitative research projects to understand people's love of outdoors and
how it pertains to the potential they have to make an impact on climate," says
Samantha Kilgore, Protect Our Winters' communications manager. "And what
we've found is that you can't just hit people over the head with climate issues-
it feels too political and polarizing."
Instead, the organization is trying to show individuals that the very things
that define them-being a skier or being a mountain biker-are what's at stake,
rather than just skiing or biking. The reason? To fire them up to join POW's advocacy in ways that will be more straightforward and accessible. Learn about
these efforts-including a new carbon footprint tool with a mission larger than
merely calculating a carbon footprint-at POW's luncheon, "Mobilizing the Outdoor Community on Meaningful Climate Action." The POW lunch will be held
on Friday, Jan. 31, from 12 to 1 p.m. in MR405. -Tracy Ross
