GOING GREEN

With reusable booths and
sustainable materials,
Venture Out was rebuilt with
an eye on Mother Earth.
This year, Venture Out, the
Show's ever popular community space, creativity hub, and
hot-bed for emerging brands,
is getting a makeover-and sustainability is the driving force
behind the design.
When Outdoor Retailer
decided to give Venture Out
a new fresh-forward look that
would be relevant to the modern outdoor movement, they
tasked Jeanine Pesce, founder
and director of the creative
agency RANGE to come up
with concepts. "They asked us
to create turnkey booths that
would live in harmony with the
existing look and feel of the
materials we already had in

play," says Pesce, whose team
designed The RANGER Station,
the educational and creative
hub of Venture Out that debuted in 2017. "It's the proverbial campfire our community
gathers around," she says.
Outdoor Retailer's turnkey
booths, which are modular
booths for exhibitors who
prefer not to fill raw space
with their own construction,
are fabricated with renewable,
eco-friendly materials for a
low-impact footprint. And the
booths are designed to be
durable enough for multiple
twice-yearly use.
Outdoor Retailer brought in
Rob Roth, owner of Greenspace
Group Exhibits, a design and
build firm dedicated to achieving complete sustainability to
execute on RANGE's vision for
the space. "Our mission is to
send nothing to the landfill,"

says Roth. Greenspace is using
sustainable materials like welded mesh metal, white oak, and
Douglas fir plywood as well as
bio-board for printed graphics
and a powder-coated metal
mesh at entryways.
"We needed them to be
democratic, inviting, accessible, and engaging spaces that
felt unique but also neutral
so brands could tell their own
personal stories," Pesce says.

After six years at Copper Mountain, the 2020 SIA/WWSRA
On-Snow Demo that follows
the Outdoor + Snow Show in
Denver returns to Winter Park
for ski and snowboard from
February 3 to 4. The Nordic
On-Snow Demo will be staged
a few miles away at Devil's
Thumb Ranch on Feb. 3.
The SIA/WWSRA On-Snow
Demo is the industry's largest international on-snow
demo. After seeing the latest
equipment and accessories
indoors in Denver, attendees
can get out into the sunshine
(or fresh pow) to test all that
cutting-edge gear, from both
up-and-coming and established brands.
"We're excited to bring the
demo back to Winter Park,
and for the opportunity to return it to its origins," says Nick
Sargent, president of SIA.
