may want to put a new
message up on that board
every month or every
other month. they may be
paying $4,000 a month,
but you're spending $800
to replace that vinyl."

When computing the
overall cost of that digital
billboard, probably the
most-important thing
to budget for is its own
replacement. Unlike a staid
static, the life span of a digital board is measured in
years, not decades.
"of all the additional expenses, the replacement
fund is the biggest thing we see," says Stark's Stark. "a
lot of our clients are independent operators and when
we talk to them, a lot of them have never thought
about it."
