Why do
You Give?
"
As a 2004 survivor of non-Hodgkin
lymphoma, I was left to tell my story.
I give to the American Cancer Society
so that others may live to tell their
stories as well.

"Why do you give to the American
Cancer Society?" we asked-and
you responded.

I give because my wife and I are cancer survivors,
and Society research helped make that possible.

The Society offered a bright light of hope at
a very dark time. We came across Making Strides
Against Breast Cancer in 2004 as my wife was
undergoing treatment for breast cancer. The event
was a celebration of life. I've been a passionate
volunteer and financial supporter ever since.

Because I want more birthdays for everyone. If each
of us contributes a little or a lot, we can do it!"

My mother died of cancer in 1978. My father
always saved the change in his pocket at the end
of the day, and every year he donated that change
to the American Cancer Society. I started doing the
same thing years ago, and to this day I still do.
My father passed away in 2010 of colon cancer,
and on June 14, 2012, I was diagnosed with a rare
form of cancer called neuroendocrine tumors/
carcinoid cancer. My sons will hopefully carry on
the tradition their grandpa started many years ago!
