By Ivy Lamb # Classic and contemporary, sophisticated yet inviting, Beaudevin puts the glamour back in traveling. Amid the bustle of Charlotte Douglas International Airport, the award-winning wine bar offers an oasis of calm where travelers can choose from more than 30 varieties of wine, ranging from introductory to exclusive labels. Patrons can order wines by the bottle or by the glass in a one-ounce taste, as well as three-, six-, and nine-ounce pours. Beaudevin — which roughly translates to “the beauty of wine” — blends the old-world feel of a French wine bar with the best in contemporary design. Developer HMSHost lavished care on every aspect of the restaurant, from the traditional tile ﬂoor to the wineglass chandeliers. “We took many traditional wine bar elements, such as dark wood and European tile, and fused them with contemporary elements including modern lighting, glass chandeliers, customized art deco seating, and tables with wine-leaf graphics,” says Atousa Ghoreichi, HMSHost’s vice president of marketing. “The blend DECEMBER 2012 creates an open, light-ﬁlled, and inviting atmosphere — a welcoming refuge for travelers.” The same care extends to the menu. Small plates, such as Scottish smoked salmon and melon and prosciutto, stimulate the palate, especially when paired with the recommended wine. Beaudevin also serves larger plates, dessert, and breakfast.
