Like the 19th Amendment of 1920, which gave women the right to vote, the Civil Rights Act changed the social and political landscape and the face of a nation. In honor of this anniversary, and especially poignant for Black History Month, this issue features several stories that touch on compelling moments in the African American struggle for civil rights.
