Looking for the most sought-after steak
dinners in New York City? Walk one block
south from Grand Central Station to Benjamin
Steakhouse, a restaurant that takes its beef — and its
service — seriously.
Founded in 2006, the restaurant is the fulfilled
dream of Benjamin Prelvukaj, who at start-up
hired chef Arturo McLeod. Both had met and
worked at the Peter Luger Steakhouse. Today,
Benjamin Steakhouse is ranked among the top
eight steakhouses in New York.
Customers can choose from six cuts of dry-aged
beef — from tender rib eyes and succulent filet
mignon to porterhouses served for two, four, six, or
even ten — all plated and served as they sizzle. Chef
McLeod is exacting about his selection of USDA

Prime meat. He requires a particular
shade of color, a balance of texture, and
a specific proportion
of fat and bones. His
steaks are then dryaged, each placed in
a specially handcrafted
aging box with a precise
temperature and humidity level for 28 days.
Steaks are the chef’s pride and joy, and they’re
as much in demand at midday as they are for
dinner. The restaurant is popular for corporate
dining and is rated as one of New York City’s best
for power lunches.
