Holes 16
and 2 on the
Gold Course

may 2013
Your task: Find the fairway at the first tee of
the Gold Course at Colonial Williamsburg’s
Golden Horseshoe Golf Club. A distant fife and
drum linger on the Virginia breeze, tugging at
your concentration along with the roll of distant
cannon fire.

Celebrating 50 years of classic
golf with Colonial Williamsburg’s
Golden Horseshoe Golf Club
midst of America’s most incredible living museum.
Not near Colonial Williamsburg’s Revolutionary
City, but right in the heart of it. The first hole runs
directly behind and then doglegs away from the
legendary Williamsburg Inn, built by none other
than John D. Rockefeller Jr. (A tip: Keep your
mind off the dinner you had last night at the Inn’s
Regency Room. Chef Travis Brust and the magic
he works with local crabmeat can’t help you hit
the fairway.)
After completing the comfortable par-4 first
hole, brace yourself for the high risk/reward of the
par-5 second hole. As you make your way over the
ridge, the sounds of the Revolutionary City fade
away. For the next few hours you’ll hear only the
sounds of nature as you enjoy a masterpiece by any
golfer’s standards.
