US Airways connects more than just flights. The airline makes connections and contributions to the communities in which it operates. This year, the company is on track to give more than $7 million in corporate contributions to a range of nonprofit organizations, scholarships, and foundations. From the American Red Cross and Make-A-Wish Foundations to ballets and theaters, US Airways supports organizations that encourage healthy, vibrant communities. The airline also gives back to the youth in those communities. The US Airways Education Foundation offers scholarships to dependents of airline employees and grants for children’s education programs. The Field Trip FUNd awards grants to Title I public schools in the airline’s hub and focus cities and to the schools of employee’s children route-wide to help cover field-trip transportation costs. able to contribute to communities, but it’s even prouder of its many employees who are passionate about giving back. The US Airways Do Crew is a dedicated corps of nearly 3,500 employee volunteers who participate in monthly charity projects. From remodeling homes with Habitat for Humanity to participating in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks, US Airways employees are active and involved in their communities. To recognize employees who
dedicate their time to individual volunteer work, US Airways developed Flights for 50, a program that honors employees who volunteer at least 50 hours a year with a nonprofit of their choosing by making a travel donation to that organization. Last year, US Airways employees donated more than 30,000 hours to volunteer programs. Now that’s something to be proud of.
