Fishing Tionesta Creek I by Ralph Scherder photos by the author love fishing small streams, but every now and then, I get a hankering to explore larger waters. When I do, one of the first ones that comes to mind is Tionesta Creek. Tionesta Creek forms just south of Sheffield, where the West Branch Tionesta Creek and East Branch Tionesta Creek meet. Much of Tionesta Creek's 60-plus miles flows through the heart of the Allegheny National Forest, picking up numerous tributaries along the way, before joining the Allegheny River near the town of Tionesta. From its origins downriver to Kellettville, Tionesta Creek is stocked with trout both preseason and inseason. Tionesta Creek is also stocked with trout inseason from Tionesta Creek Reservoir outflow downstream to the mouth and is open to year-round fishing.
