If you're looking to hook up with strong, hard-fighting fish in northwestern Pennsylvania, steelhead are great fall fishing targets. Wild Brown Trout from a limestone creek in central Pennsylvania are active and feeding during the fall, especially as spawning approaches. Walleyes are active in the fall from Lake Erie to the Ohio River, and east all the way to Lake Wallenpaupack and the Delaware River. They are often found in similar areas as steelhead, Smallmouth Bass, Striped Bass and other large gamefish. Hybrid Striped Bass are found in the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio rivers as well as Lake Wallenpaupack. They are hard fighters on light tackle. Look for them to be shallower and more accessible as water temperatures cool in the fall. September/October 2023 7 photo-Carl Haensel photo-Carl Haensel photo-Justin Torok photo-Carl Haensel
