courtesy. etiquette. respect. You're on the right trail. With more than 450 miles of pristine trails, Park City is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. But since most of our trails are multi-use, meaning they are shared by hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians (horseback riders), understanding trail etiquette will make everyone's adventure safer and more enjoyable. KNOW WHO HAS THE RIGHT OF WAY. Most trailheads will post a yield triangle sign highlighting who has the right of way. Here is what it means: * Hikers and mountain bikers ALWAYS yield to horses * Mountain bikers ALWAYS yield to hikers * Downhill mountain bikers ALWAYS yield to uphill mountain bikers * Downhill hikers and mountain bikers ALWAYS yield to uphill hikers* * The only time this does not apply is when on directional mountain bike trails. In this case, the trails will have signage stating that it is an uphill or downhill only trail. POOCH-FRIENDLY Park City is dog-friendly and so are most of our trails. Most trails require a leash and all require you pick up after your pooch as well as pack it out. Most trailheads have doggybag stations, but it's always a good idea to bring your own. There are a few designated off-leash zones, such as Round Valley and Run-A-Muck. These areas will be called out at the trailhead. > > > >>> > > > > > > > > > > >>
