ALUMNI NEWS
MESSAGE TO
NEW GRADUATES
Congratulations! You've made it, despite having
to finish your degree under the most trying of
circumstances. You are joining the ranks of more
than a century's worth of graduates.

Alumni Association President
During this uncertain time, I want to pass along
some words of wisdom I've learned along the way
that seem to apply now more than ever. I am sure
you have heard many times that "change is good,"
and life is a series of changes. We are all aware of
the current pandemic with the COVID-19 virus
causing more change than we can recall in our
lifetime. These are daunting times and I do not
want to minimize your emotions by reciting clichés.
The experiences and challenges you faced in your
education have more than prepared you for your
career journey.
I ask that you stay involved with our College
Community. Stay in touch with your former
classmates and teachers. Facebook and email us
to let us know what you're up to and how we
can help you as you progress in your careers.
I would have loved to have seen each of you walk
for graduation and to have seen your smiling faces.
I'm sure this is a big disappointment to you and
your families. The current reality is cruel in that
way; however, it does not minimize your
achievements. We are all very proud of you!
We want you to succeed because each of you is an
amazing reflection of our College Community. Again,
congratulations and welcome to the Pennsylvania
College of Health Sciences Alumni Association. n
Introducing the Alumni
Association's New President
Following her time at the former Lancaster General
School of Nursing, Tina Martin received her BSN
from the University of Delaware and her MSN in
Nursing Leadership and Doctor of Nursing Practice
from Walden University. Her clinical experience
includes medical-surgical and trauma-neurosurgical
intensive care nursing.
Martin worked at Penn Medicine Lancaster General
Health for the first 32 years of her career, serving in
various leadership roles. Currently, she is the System
Director of Nursing Practice and Professional
Development for WellSpan Health. She is passionate
about patient- and family-centered care, nursing
autonomy and professional development.
Over the past several years, she served as an
Evidence-Based Practice Mentor for The Ohio State
University, was past President of the Philadelphia
Magnet Consortium, and was the founder of the
Southcentral PA Magnet Consortium. Some of
her current projects include development and
oversight of a nurse manager residency program
and a nursing leadership academy. She serves as the
nurse leader liaison for WellSpan's System Nursing
Professional Development Council, System
Nursing Practice and Quality Council and the
System Nursing Leadership Council. She has helped
coach several of the WellSpan Health nursing teams
toward successful Pathway and Magnet designations.
She is also a Magnet Appraiser for the American
Nurses Credentialing Center.
In her spare time, she enjoys cooking and going for
walks with her two dachshunds. Most of all, she
enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons,
two daughters-in-law, and her 20-month old
grandson. In September she will be celebrating
34 years of marriage. She is a passionate alumna,
excited to help advance the College's mission. n
