PA COLLEGE / ON THE PULSE
BSHA PROGRAM
EARNS ACCREDITATION
Last fall, PA College's Bachelor of Science in
Healthcare Administration (BSHA) program
earned its certification from the Association of
University Programs in Health Administration.
The certification was received following
an intensive self-study period and peer
review of PA College's curricula, faculty and
educational outcomes, reflecting the quality
of the College's health care administration
education. In addition to recognizing the
excellence of PA College's program, receiving
certification also provides access to scholarship
funds for BSHA students.
"Our goal is to help our graduates stand out,"
says Tomomi Horning, DBA, MHA, Program
Director for the BSHA program. "We set
the bar high for our students, using an agile
curriculum that's informed by connecting with
local health care leaders, and our students
consistently rise to that level."
Not only is the program informed by the
health care industry, but it is also taught
by experienced experts of the industry.
"Some 100 percent of our faculty worked as
leaders in the health care industry, and most
of our adjunct instructors are still actively
practicing health care professionals," says
Horning. "Not many other health care
administration programs can say that." n

Philanthropy Week
The spirit of giving was palpable during PA
College's second annual Philanthropy Week,
held on campus February 3 -7. This week-long
celebration of the impact of philanthropy in
our College Community features fun activities
for students designed to build awareness about
the generous financial donors who support
PA College. It also provides opportunities for
students, faculty members and staff members
to get involved and give back.
College donors Rebecca Bumsted, Joan Reist
Gibbel, Nursing '57, Sue Nunemacher Pichini,
Nursing '78, Kenneth Stoudt and Brenda Stover,
Radiography '72 helped to host a free "What's
Hot About Philanthropy" hot chocolate bar,
where students and donors enjoyed exchanging
stories, along with a tasty treat.
(clockwise from top left) The Office of Academic Advising, Office of Marketing & Communications, Campus Life
and Student Engagement and Radiography faculty contributed to the Spare Change Fundraiser as teams.
Visit our Facebook page to see their reasons for giving!
Thanks to contributions from students, faculty
members and staff members - many of
them first-time donors - the "Spare Change
Fundraiser" raised $3,400 for the Student
Emergency Fund at PA College, which provides
grants to eligible students facing immediate
financial crises so they can stay on track and
in school. Various college departments or
teams contributed together, sharing fun photos
and their reasons for giving to help spur on
additional giving among their peers. n
