Joe York
Joseph York, PhD, a beloved member
of the PA College community since
2014, died suddenly in April. York, who
served as the first Dean of Graduate
Education and Program Director for
the Master of Science in Healthcare
Administration (MHA) program,
played a pivotal role in the creation of
PA College's master's degree programs,
crafting the interdisciplinary approach
that sets PA College graduates apart.
A New Leader for the Nurse
Practitioner Program
Cara Padovano, DNP, APRN, is the new director of the Nurse Practitioner
Program and Assistant Chair of Graduate Nursing. She earned her BSN,
MSN, and DNP from Rutgers School of Nursing in New Jersey. She
specializes in anti-aging, regenerative, and functional medicine with a focus
on nutritional, metabolic, and hormonal imbalances, and she is a diplomat
of the Anti-Aging, Metabolic, and Functional Medicine Program through
the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, and a fellow of the National
Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties Leadership Mentor Program.
She has been teaching in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs for
more than 13 years and has held academic leadership positions in various
institutions since 2014. n
Jean Hershey '79, DEd, MSN, RN,
CNE, Associate Vice President,
Academic Affairs, says: " Dr. York
was a well-respected faculty member,
colleague, and friend. His kind and calm
demeanor made him a favorite member
of our team. He championed graduate
education for the College, where his
leadership and years of experience
were valued and appreciated. Students
found Dr. York to be knowledgeable,
approachable, and supportive as they
worked through their MHA coursework.
He will be greatly missed by the entire
College community. "
Alumnus Walter Stewart '19, MHA,
credits his PA College degree with giving
him the skills to be a strong leader, and
points in particular to the guidance
of York: " He was supportive from our
initial chat about what PA College has
to offer, to giving sound advice on how
to tackle one course that might have
been more challenging than the other,
and finally at the end, which PhD
programs to apply to post-graduation
because I can't seem to stop wanting
to learn, " says Stewart. n
