New Student Success Coaches On Board
This fall, two Student Success Coaches joined our Division of Nursing. This new role was designed to provide
additional support services for undergraduate nursing students throughout their educational journey and foster
a greater sense of community within the College. The Coaches will work with students in both individual and
group settings and collaborate with faculty and colleagues in learning support, advising and counseling services.
The creation of these two new positions also supports the College's overall student retention goals. Plus, given
the current faculty shortage in nursing education, the Student Success Coach role allows BSN-prepared nurses to
experience working in higher education without the MSN degree required of nursing faculty.

Olnick
Mary Q. Turner '21, '19, BSN, RN, began
her nursing career as a bedside nurse on a
cardiothoracic vascular step-down unit at Penn
Medicine Lancaster General Health. Her desire to
facilitate positive change led her to committee
roles which included Falls Committee, Quality
Council and Steering Council. Her passion for
education led her to her new role. " As a Student
Success Coach, I hope to collaborate with
colleagues to promote student engagement,
partner with students to help develop skills and
success plans and identify appropriate support
and resources for students in the undergraduate
nursing program, " Turner said. " Nursing is one of
the greatest professions out there. I am honored to
share this journey through nursing school with the
students here at PA College. "
Since graduating from PA College and becoming
an RN in 2005, Student Success Coach Sage A.
Olnick '05, BCC, MDiv, BSN, RN worked at the
bedside, continued her education, taught in the
classroom and became a board-certified chaplain.
" I've realized that I am called to help others feel
seen, heard and know that they belong. I am a firm
believer that none of us can make it on our own in
this world. We need supportive communities and
supportive people to help guide us, develop our
personal and professional identities, build life-long
learning skills and grow into our potential, " Olnick
said. " I hope to partner with students to help
them integrate new strategies, skills, habits and
mindsets for success in the nursing program and
throughout their career. "
