Grace Simcox
President Mary Grace Simcox will retire during the 2022-23 academic year,
after more than 25 years at PA College. Under her exceptional leadership,
the College has grown from a small nursing diploma school to an
accredited college enrolling nearly 2,000 students in associate to doctoral
degree programs in nursing and the allied health professions.
Dr. Simcox had the foresight
to see what could be
achieved and the persistence
to make that vision a
reality. To celebrate her
extraordinary legacy, friends
of the College have raised
more than $80,000 to endow
the Student Emergency Fund
in her name. Dr. Simcox
created this fund several
years ago and has supported
it with annual gifts because its goal is particularly meaningful to her.
The Student Emergency Fund provides quick-response grants to students
who encounter unanticipated emergencies such as domestic violence,
homelessness, fire, theft or serious illness. The objective is to keep
students enrolled through the difficulties they face, rather than taking a
leave of absence or dropping out. In recent years, the Student Emergency
Fund has enabled students to replace textbooks and clinical uniforms lost
in house fires, escape abusive relationships and pay unexpected medical
bills. Faculty and academic advisors recommend students for emergency
grants as they hear about crises students experience during the year.
Alumni and friends of PA College are welcome to join this effort. Celebrate
all that Dr. Simcox has accomplished on behalf of the College and the
students its serves by making a gift of any size to the President Mary Grace
Simcox Student Emergency Fund. Gifts can be made online at

Reception
After a two-year event hiatus due to the
coronavirus pandemic, it was especially
meaningful to host our annual Scholarship
Appreciation Reception on April 10.
This annual event is an opportunity for
donors and students to meet, share stories
and thanks and celebrate the impact of
scholarship support at PA College. Drew
Ross '22, a student in our Respiratory Care
program and recipient of the Colette and
James Hipolit Endowed Scholarship, was our
featured speaker. Drew shared his inspiring
path to a career in health care and reminded
our generous donor guests: " You literally
make dreams happen. "
