Share What You've Learned
with Current Students
With the 2022-23 academic year comes a new slate of opportunities
and events bringing alumni together with current students. This
year, we will host a series of informal Q&A sessions via Zoom,
connecting students with alumni who share their career experiences
and introduce students to the range of rewarding paths a degree
from PA College can take them.
We will start the Fall 2022 semester with a Career Connections event
focused on the end-of-life care patients receive. The hour-long event
will take place on Thursday, September 1, at 6 p.m. If you have
worked in hospice, palliative care or other aspect of the end-of-life
journey, we invite you to join us to share the challenges and rewards
that come from this career path.

If you are interested in helping a student on a one-to-one basis,
email Sam Hawkins, Director of Alumni Engagement, at
sahawkins@pacollege.edu. She is compiling a list of alumni working
in various fields and locations who are willing to mentor students or
answer student questions on an as-needed basis.

Sarah (Sally) Singer Herman '57, RN has been
inducted into the Washington State Nurses
Hall of Fame. During her long career, Herman
worked with patients in nursing homes, provided
rural home care, served the developmentally
disabled group home population, advocated
for young women and couples as a Pregnancy
Choices volunteer and was a private duty nurse.
This is just one of many ways Herman has been
recognized. In 2003, she received the WSNA
Marguerite Cobb Public Health/Community
Health Nurse Award, and in 2007 she received the
WSNA Honorary Recognition Award. Although
she retired from clinical practice in 2007, Herman
continues to touch countless lives and advocate
for nurses and the profession as an active
member of various nursing organizations.
