BARTER 2.0 Tee Sheet POS Market in Flux By Stuart Lindsay W e are hearing rumors and seeing actual changes in the Tee Sheet POS landscape that will affect how golf courses manage information. In addition to the established players in the technology market; there are also some relative newcomers that we have looked at. Then there is a trend to using credit card processing fees as part of the payment programs for some of these newer platforms. At the top of the list is the rumored deal that would combine the two largest Tee Sheet/POS/3rd Party technology vendors. This is followed by the acquisition of GolfBook by Supreme Golf, which apparently has also taken an ownership position in ForeUP. Chronogolf has been acquired (absorbed) by Lightspeed, which already provided the POS platform underneath the Chronogolf applications. TeeSnap apparently has been put up for sale by its parent Allegiant Airlines - a recent public statement from Allegiant indicates that TeeSnap is no longer a "core" business asset and that an inquiry had been received. GolfNow recently announced a credit card processing relationship. Newcomers TenFore and Club Caddie also have relationships that allow golf courses to pay for part of their services out of processing proceeds. TeeSnap also used that type of relationship as one of their payment options. Club Prophet Systems has been helping their clients find better processing options ever since the well known problems with ETS started to surface several years ago. Supreme Golf also has a processing relationship using the same merchant platform as Club Caddie. There is some "history" in that relationship stemming from the Golfler software acquired by Supreme Golf a couple years ago and a continuing alliance where Supreme Golf helps liquidate "barter rounds" for Club There is a trend to using credit card processing fees as part of the payment programs for some of these newer platforms.
