* Golf accessibility & diversity - grow-the-game programs
and influencing junior golf to make it look more like
Los Angeles in general (implied; affluence, gender, race,
disabilities)
* Environmental stewardship - pay attention to the land
and your impact on it but with a surprising language
twist likely never before seen in California policy-shaping
beginning with these words: " In a fiscally responsible
manner, reduce the use of harmful pesticides... " Someone
must've snuck a Republican into that committee
(ha, ha)

Business intelligence - Taking a page from Pellucid's
book, they're actually encouraging the operators to use
technology (and share the reports and insights from that
technology with LA County) to report on their Rounds
& Revenue (which they currently do) as well as their
expenses, reserves and profit (which they don't currently
do). Cherry on top is they'd like to see comparative performance
(between the facilities) and (dare they said it?)
benchmarking to the market. This ought to get interesting
really quickly; we'll await their call to participate in
GMRC
* System unity & scalability - here they talk about
integrating the collection of golf properties into a
" true system " which I guess would suggest more shared
technology, best practices, pricing strategies etc. While
this is a laudable aspiration, I can only think of all the
current " dishes that will need to be broken " to achieve
this based on what I see of their current operating model
and County rules and restrictions on my breeze through
the RFP
That brings us to a summary of what appear to be the major
changes for this 5-facility RFP experiment vs. current state:
* Consolidate the contracts and operator from multiple
entities today to fewer (or a single) as the current lease
terms expire. There are currently 7 current operators
and 17 separate agreements to run the entire portfolio.
There's likely a benefit to the County in consolidating
and likely a benefit to the future, fewer operators to be
responsible for more of the portfolio. The interesting
" twist " here in the strategy is that the County is going
to look to " bundle " (pair good performing properties
with poorer performing) the fewer operators/lease
agreements; an interesting and logical concept, we'll see
how many/who of the operators will want to take the
" bundlings " that LA County comes up with
