recent article in Club&Resort Business talked about two
golf closures - one in California and another in Connecticut.
The main point was that golf course closures are still
occurring despite the national overall resurgence in golf demand.
In addition, I got a call from a local reporter asking if another recent
sale and the closure in Connecticut indicated that the recent
golf boom was not a rising tide lifting all boats. I decided to look at
both closures to see if there were any similarities. I wasn't prepared
for a trip to Hotel California or an echo of Mark Twain feeling
as out of place as a " Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court " .
At least Samuel Clemens was apparently enough of a prisoner of
the device to measure water's depth that he used it as a pen name.
Just up the road from Twain's steamboat styled home in Hartford,
CT; Blue Fox Run in Avon is a 27 hole course with strong
demographics within a 10 mile radius. However, when we reached
