used to find the optimal mixture of
energy sources and estimated cost
parameters considering the limitations and characteristics of
Canadian Arctic communities. The
proposed results demonstrate that
a significant reduction and even
the elimination of diesel generation
is possible for Canadian Arctic
communities, with substantial RES
penetration, large savings, and
smaller levelized cost of energy as
well as a broad energy mix that
includes flow batteries and wind,
solar photovoltaic, hydrogen, and
natural gas generation.
