there still were limits to the number of
potentiometers that could be provided.
The high current portions of a thyratron-reactor dimmer circuit could be
located in any out-of-the-way space,
such as down in the basement near the
main electrical service. This included
the saturable core reactors themselves,
the remotely operated line contactors,
and the panels containing the thyratron, kenotron and phanotron tubes.
