meetings, Chapter meetings, and
conferences. This is not something
that we have to consider
for the current disruption that we
continue to face but also for the
long-term success of our meetings
and events. Beyond the pandemic,
there must be a strategic
review of our different in-person

interactions to identify how we
can incorporate new technologies
to increase global engagement
and participation without
cannibalizing the value of inperson
attendance. Every meeting
and/or event is different and
serves a different purpose, therefore,
a one-size-fits-all model
does not work.
✔ Education: PES has a tremendous
amount of educational
content, but education and educational
needs are different for
every single member and institution
with which we engage. We
are working to gather information
to better serve our constituencies
and to ensure that we
are generating the content-and
disseminating it-in a way that
maximizes its value to everyone.
Our committees are hard
at work reviewing our body of
knowledge from a topic-matter
standpoint as well as the platforms
that we are using to make
this content available.
may/june 2022
There is no shortage of work to be
done, but it is important to recognize
the amazing accomplishments over the
years. We have a dedicated staff, and
the teams work well together. Our volunteer
base is nothing short of remarkable,
and I am continually impressed
by the quality of work done. Someone
is always willing to raise his or her
hand to help. PES (staff, volunteers,
and members) has the feeling of one
big family, and I am thrilled to be a
part of it. I cannot wait to see all the
great things we can accomplish together
for the benefit of the global power
and energy community.
