and the OH to UG conversion process is customer interaction.
Join this panel of utility experts as they discuss how to

Evolution of Grid Edge Control Technologies towards

Due to evolving decarbonization and energy efficiency
goals, utilities are actively looking for ways to optimally
utilize premise-level assets like distributed energy resources
(DERs) (e.g., solar and battery energy storage systems)
and appliances like HVAC and electric water heaters to
minimize or shift the energy consumption during demand
response (DR). With the advent on edge-level computational
hardware and the availability of advanced algorithms to
account for premise-level assets information dynamically,
the implementation of optimization at the edge or premise
is becoming viable. However, there are a lot of challenges
regarding hardware or firmware capability, uncertainties of
the availability of DERs, communication infrastructure and
protocols, and regulatory policies. This panel brings a group
of experts from utility, industry, national labs, and academia
to present the state-of-the-art disrupting the grid edge.

Digitalization is in a critical stage in electric utility industry.
In the light of growing complexities in electric grid
monitoring, operations and planning as grid evolves, utilities
have increasingly adapted to technology and digitalization.
Many utilities are turning to digital technologies
to increase grid efficiency in operations and planning, to
reduce costs, and to improve edge analytics and customer
service. However, implementing these digital technologies
can be challenging.
This panel includes leaders and chief digital and technology
officers from utilities as well as cloud and technology
solution providers. The panel will first discuss
examples and use cases from current utility digital
transformation programs
including edge
computing,
customer energy analytics, EV analytics, fleet management,
digital twin, asset performance monitoring, data
analytics, etc. The discussion then will be extended from
utilities to cloud and technology solution providers for
their perspective.
In the second round of discussions, the panel will focus on
lessons learned from digitalization and challenges of digitalization
in power industry and utilities in terms of both
technology and human impacts to capture digital transformation's
full value.
Finally, the panel will focus on how digitalization can support
the path toward energy transition.
