We are in the midst of a transformational shift in the energy
sector. Electrification, renewable energy deployment, and
extreme weather has placed additional stress on the grid,
highlighting the need for increased grid resilience and
capacity. Given these challenges, grid operators and electric
utilities are looking for new solutions to modernize
and upgrade the transmission grid while accommodating
the increasing demand for clean, reliable, and affordable
power. This panel will explore utility use cases of how grid
enhancing technologies (GETs) like dynamic line ratings
(DLR) are being deployed to maximize capacity, increase
efficiency, and enhance the reliability of today's electric
grid. During this session, you'll hear from thought leaders
at National Grid, Duquesne Light Company, and Xcel
Energy who are working toward operationalizing GETs
like DLR. They will discuss the various considerations
and challenges of integrating GETs such as NERC CIP
compliance, operator training, and change management

Networked DERs for Resilience at the Grid Edge: Challenges
and Opportunities (Panel Session)

Distributed energy resources (DERs) are poised to disrupt
the grid edge as the need for decarbonization and sustainability
is emerging as requirements from customers. A key
aspect to the evolution of DERs is the ability to use them as
networked-rather than as one-off connected-assets with
the goal of increased resilience during grid disruptions.
However, this philosophy of interconnected operation is
fraught with challenges all the way from development to
implementation. It is in that regard that this panel assembles
experts from the industry, the government, and a
national lab to discuss these challenges and opportunities
through the lens of practical implementations.
