(VT/CT) que convierten estas señales analógicas en digitales,
llevan a cabo un procesamiento de señales y subsecuentemente
las transmiten mediante una red Ethernet de acuerdo
con los lineamientos del estándar de la CEI 61850.
El nivel de bahía, ubicado cerca de los dispositivos de terminal,
incluye relés, aquí llamados IED, para protección y
control en el nivel físico. Estos IED continuamente procesan
información generada a partir de las MU para brindar conocimiento
continuo y detallado de los distintos eventos que
ocurren en la subestación o el sistema eléctrico circundante.
Los IED identifican eventos y toman medidas apropiadas
(como desencadenar un actuador para disparar automáticamente
CBs para una línea eléctrica por la presencia de una
falla, lo que genera alertas ante indicaciones de problemas
con la salud del equipo, como conmutadores o transformadores,
o aislar las secciones que fallan del sistema de la red).
El nivel de estación brinda un panorama de todo el SAS,
incluido una estación de trabajo HMI que presenta los datos
procesados para que un operador local monitoree e interactúe
con los distintos procesos de la subestación. En este nivel,
también hay dispositivos que brindan conectividad entre la
subestación eléctrica y el centro de control.
También hay dos subredes físicas, formadas por conmutadores
Ethernet, que interconectan a los tres niveles. El nodo
de la estación brinda conectividad entre los dispositivos del
nivel de estación y el nivel de bahía, que normalmente se
implementan en una topología en anillo. Los nodos de proceso
interconectan el equipo del nivel de proceso con el
equipo del nivel de bahía al aprovechar las técnicas de resiliencia
como el protocolo de redundancia paralela (PRP, por
sus siglas en inglés), un protocolo simple que se usa para la
redundancia en redes industriales, basado en el concepto de
redundancia física. El PRP implementa redundancia en una
red en forma de conmutadores redundantes enlazados con
dos rutas físicas independientes. Los conmutadores envían
paquetes a través de ambas rutas de forma simultánea y el
dispositivo receptor acepta el primer paquete que llega y descarta
