Over 70% of Energy employers are struggling to
attract and retain a qualified workforce. The objective
of this panel is to discuss the workforce challenges
facing the industry today and offer talent strategies
that can be leveraged to drive a positive employee
experience.
We have selected panel members with broad utility
expertise in the areas of operations, human resources,
human performance & safety, workforce development,
and workforce analytics.
The panel discussion will focus on three areas:
1. The forces in the industry that are having the
greatest impact on attracting and retaining top
talent.
2. The role of the employee experience on achieving high
performance (e.g., safety, reliability, etc...)
3. People strategies that employers should adopt to
adequately prepare their employees (e.g, qualification
systems, mentoring/coaching, and development
programs to drive engagement, etc...)
The panel discussion will also include a Q&A period
to drive a productive conversation and engage the
audience.

intelligence (AI) in business value terms instead of
technical or statistical terms so that you can successfully
build the confidence and support of your business leaders.
In addition, the panel will highlight the different types
of people and their skill sets that make up an Analytics
Center of Excellence (ACE).

Protective Relaying Virtualization Development, Deployment
and Use Cases

The Transmission & Distribution industry is seeing
unprecedented growth in opportunities surrounding
digitalization. With this development there are now
opportunities to virtualize protective relaying applications
which opens up the ability to consolidate hardware, present
additional use cases with data creation/utilization and
hardware management optimization. These developments
will be examined against conventional microprocessorbased
power system protection schemes.
The panel will explore pilot developments in virtual
protective relaying along with hardware, software and
limitations in terms of protection applications which can
be virtualized. Along with pilot schemes, the panel will
explore developments with migration to hardware agonistic
schemes which are not engineered specifically for the
power industry (i.e. high-powered server platforms).
The panel will also explore standards development activities
which are beginning to form along with working
groups which are looking to develop industry guidance
with virtual protective relaying.
The panel will also explore potential risks of deploying
virtual protective relaying from a protection security/
reliability perspective, cybersecurity risk perspective and
O&M maintenance perspective.
