CALCULATION OF NETWORK CAPACITY FOR
RENEWABLES AND CHARGING STATION
CONNECTION REQUESTS
The increasing number of connection requests for renewables and charging stations for electric
vehicles is a challenge for utilities of all sizes. DIgSILENT provides a solution that automatically
determines the locally available capacity for additional load and distributed energy resources.
The process takes into account the individual requirements of the grid operators regarding the
constraints of the network model.
- Different network model sources such as GIS, PowerFactory database or other calculation tools
- Hosting Capacity Analysis module of the well-proven calculation software PowerFactory
- Use of loading and voltage limits, reverse power flow and power quality as constraints for
capacity calculation
- Results for base case and n-1 (feeder switch-over)
- Available for all voltage levels and network model sizes
- Separation of front and back end facilitates modular integration into existing business application
The results can be made available via an external web application using a colour-coded system in
order to provide an immediate indicative answer to customers.
