25-Year Deputies The Game Commission, and everybody interested in Pennsylvania wildlife, are deeply indebted to our force of Deputy Wildlife Conservation Officers. At tremendous personal time and financial expense, these officers work tirelessly on law enforcement, Information and Education programs, and much more. Congratulations and thanks to the latest deputies to reach the 25-year mark. Charles P. Spuck Reynoldsville Jefferson County James A. Heiser Slatington Lehigh County Ronald P. Marteney Garrett Somerset County Woodchuck unstuck LMO Steve Leiendecker recently assisted a young man with a vehicle problem at Dunbar Creek, near State Game Lands 51. A woodchuck had become entangled in the serpentine belt, which caused the Jeep's checkengine light to come on. Officer Leiendecker and the Jeep's owner spent 15 minutes or more to finally free the animal from the belt. It was nice to see someone go above and beyond to help. - Dennis Balenovich, West Newton 50 GAME NEWS
