PLUGG COMPLYING WITH PENNSYLVANIA'S If you've ever encountered a WCO while you were out hunting small game, turkeys or waterfowl, you've probably had your shotgun thoroughly examined. One common violation is possessing a shotgun that holds more than the three-shell capacity (two in the magazine and one in the chamber) that's required for most shotgun hunting. Just about every pump or semiautomatic shotgun is capable of holding more than three rounds, and will require 1 some modification of the magazine tube to comply with the law. Luckily, many new firearms these days come directly from the factory with a magazine tube plug. Often this is just a piece of plastic that sits inside the magazine tube of the shotgun and takes up enough space to allow only two shells to be loaded. If you have an older gun, or you already lost the plug from your new one, installing your own is a simple process. First, determine which type of tubular magazine you have. Follow the disassembly directions for your particular shotgun and take a look at the front end of your magazine tube. The most-common shotguns do not have a removable magazine tube spring and will have a small hole at the end of the tube. The plug you use will have to fit through this hole. 36
