2017 Game Warden Deputy of the Year J EREMY ELLIOTT joined the deputy game warden ranks in 2016 and has quickly become a model officer. He embraces all aspects of the position and works hard at achieving the goals of the Game Commission. Deputy Elliott is eager to assist with Hunter-Trapper Education classes. He is a good public speaker and does a great job helping with youth field days and manning the displays at the county fair. He attended all deputy training sessions last year. Deputy Elliott logged more than 350 patrol hours in 2017, and he issued 41 citations by himself, and assisted other officers with another 38 citations. His patrol efforts on hunter access property owned by the City of Cumberland, Maryland, have been praised by the Maryland Natural Resource Dept. specialist in charge of the property. Elliott was instrumental is solving multiple illegally killed deer cases last year, including one in which Maryland DCNR officers and Pennsylvania game wardens executed a search warrant and recovered a trophy-class deer that was killed illegally. While I was sidelined during the late summer months with an injury, Deputy Elliott picked up the slack and assisted with trapping nuisance bears and coordinating work efforts with the game warden covering the area in my absence. His efforts this past year are greatly appreciated by me and the community he serves. It is for these reasons and more that Deputy Jeremy Elliott was selected as the Southcentral Region Deputy of the Year.
