Jacob Dingel Since 1963, Pennsylvania's firearms deer season has started on the Monday after Thanksgiving. Could the 2019 season open on Saturday? The decision will be reported in the June Game News. Saturday deer opener considered Commissioners preliminarily approve change, final vote set for April 9. The Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners in January gave preliminary approval to a list of seasons and bag limits for the upcoming 2019-20 license year. Shifting the opening day of firearms deer season to begin on the Saturday after Thanksgiving rather than the Monday after Thanksgiving is among the changes proposed. This would create a 13-day season that APRIL 2019 includes three Saturdays. The 2019-20 seasons and bag limits won't become final until commissioners vote to adopt them at a meeting scheduled for April 9. And, until that vote, it won't be known if the season will open on Saturday or Monday.
