Deer are more likely to sneak in behind you if you fail to check every noise you hear. More than 25 years of bowhunting has taught me there are squirrels that sound like deer moving, and deer that sound like squirrels moving. I no longer assume. I look. Such negligence has never cost me a big buck. But I have been surprised by a lot of small bucks and does. It usually happens early morning when the woods are alive with movement.
