Shown here, the Crooked Creek drainage area recently benefited from a non-commercial habitat improvement project to create large-scale early-successional habitat in the bottomlands along the creek. As a result, woodcock, grouse, deer and beavers have responded favorably and now are common inhabitants in the project area. There's no shortage of trapping and furbearer hunting opportunities on State Game Lands 25. Every furbearing mammal in the Commonwealth can be found here, including bobcats, fishers, weasels and river otters. JANUARY 2021 51
