There are over 765 acres of wetlands on State Game Lands 180, which provide critical and unique habitat for a variety of wildlife. Shohola Marsh is a vital stopover for many waterfowl. This game lands also is within Important Bird Area 61 and home to at least 88 breeding bird species including golden-winged warblers, bald eagles, osprey, and various waterfowl and wading birds. The Game Commission and Ducks Unlimited partnered in 2017 to install a water-control structure at Shohola Marsh Farm's Field, a 19-acre impoundment at the south end of Shohola Marsh. Drawdowns and flooding of impoundments support growth of beneficial waterfowlfriendly aquatic plants. AUGUST 2021 55 Michael Gadomski
