Do both. In that same vein, the Game Commission is taking a two-pronged approach to restoring the size of Pennsylvania's wild turkey populations, which are below goal in more places than not across the state. First, the Game Commission, in accordance with the agency's Wild Turkey Management Plan, closed fall turkey season in an additional Wildlife Management Unit and shortened it in 14 others for 2021. And, second, the agency prohibited the use of rifles and pistols for fall turkey hunting statewide. That's a dual-action strategy aimed at protecting as many hens as possible without limiting hunting opportunity any more than necessary.
