BY TYLER FRANTZ BOWHUNTING IN FIREARM S SEASON Several years ago, I spent opening day of firearms deer season staking out my parents' 120-acre farm with a Ruger .308 rifle. If memory serves, I shot a nice buck. What really stands out about that season, though, is the trail camera pictures captured behind my own house several days later. Standing within view of the archery tree stand on my meager 3.24-acre property was an impressive 8-pointer any Pennsylvania hunter would be happy to take. It got me thinking: Is it worth hunting small patches with the bow during gun season? Sarah Horst, of Robesonia, would say yes. SCORING BIG ON SMALL PARCELS DECEMBER 2022 55
