he COVID-19 pandemic has been diffi cult
enough for people without chronic diseases.
Add in the challenge of living with
PKD, where one's immune system is already

precarious, and it becomes even more so. Thankfully,
now that more and more adults are being vaccinated
and rates of infection are going down, the world is
slowly returning to a " new normal. " PKD Life talked
to three people with PKD to learn how they and
their families have coped over the past year.

JACQUE ENGLISH, 42

Fridays at the English house
mean " Formal Friday Happy
Hour. " Jacque, her husband,
Mike, and the kids, Jojo, 6,
and Evie, 4, dress up, put out
snacks-the girls love a good
tea party-and enjoy rocking
out to music. They usually
follow up with something
fun, such as a special movie
night. " It started as a way
to break up the monotony
of social distancing but has
become something we all
look forward to each week, "
Jacque says.
When the pandemic
started, the family took the
precautions very seriously.
Jacque had been diagnosed
with PKD in her 20s; her
mother, Jo, who died in 2010,
had it also. The children
