PKDCON 2022:
Education and Connection
in a Virtual World
I n the early 2000s, the PKD Foundation
National Convention was introduced.
Today, it's better known as the PKD Connect
Conference. This educational event brings
together every part of the PKD community
to provide information, research, tools,
resources, and networking opportunities.
And PKDCON 2022 was no exception.
For the second year in a row, PKDCON
was hosted as a free virtual event. Although
we couldn't be together in person, our
commitment to providing the latest PKD
research news and education remained,
and patients and families were able to connect
with other members of the community

from the safety of their own
homes. This year, more
than 1,700 people registered
to participate.
Understanding the wide
variety of reasons people
attend PKDCON, we organized
speakers to cover issues of
high priority to the PKD community.
In total, 35 sessions
were available, including:

* Managing Health Issues
at School
* End Stage Kidney Disease:
Kidney Failure and What
to Expect
* Communicating with Your
Health Care Team
In addition to breakout sessions,
keynote speaker Jeremy
Poincenot gave the audience
an encouraging message
of how interconnectedness
can be empowering-even
when people feel the need to
address a problem on their
own. Chris Rusconi, the
Foundation's interim CEO/
