Unfortunately, quality and consistency are often lost when faculty convert a traditional course to an online course. Most believe that online courses should be designed so an online student can perform curricular tasks on their own time with little to no synchronous collaboration with faculty and peers. As a result, online students work individualistically in a vacuum and have no sense of community or belonging with their peers, the faculty, and the university. Students can easily lose motivation and become dissatisfied with their online experience, and retention of online students becomes a challenge. This presentation will offer the findings of a case study performed on a collaborative curricular program at the Fox School of Business at Temple University. making your StratEgiC plan Work: a Case analysis of indiana State university Speakers: Karl Burgher, Special Assistant to the President for Strategic Planning, Indiana State University; Patricia McClintock, Director of Institutional Research, Indiana State University Focus: F Too many plans stay just as plans in both the public and private sector—this is not a higher education problem, this is an organizational problem. Organizational change is difficult and managing a wide variety and multiple types of initiatives can be daunting. This session will focus on the implementation of the ISU strategic plan. The key to success is turning a strategic plan into operational work, plans, and actionable steps, by providing stake holders with the appropriate tools for getting the work initiated, accomplished, assessed, and communicated. tuesday, June 14 8:00 am Breakfast 8:30 – 9:20 am Morning Keynote The Geek Speaks, interview with Dries Buytaert, Creator of Drupal 9:30 – 10:55 am Exhibit Hall Open 11:00 – 11:40 am Session 1 11:45 am – 12:25 pm Session 2 12:30 – 1:30 pm Luncheon Telepresence Keynote Achieving Greatness in Higher Ed Leadership with Dr. Steven R.
