Students and faculty can incorporate web, video, mobile, and audio content more easily and quickly into their assignments. A new Adobe Flash Catalyst component allows for interactive content to be built without needing to write code. The Adobe CS5 family also lets users create content and applications for Flash Player 10.1 and Adobe AIR 2. And, they can integrate with Adobe’s CS Live online services to help streamline workflow. Each suite has full version upgrades of stand-alone applications with tools sold separately or in one of the CS5 editions. Hitachi America’s CP-X3011 3LCD projector ($2,795) boasts some nifty technical features. Users can select one of four free-line templates that can be useful when writing on a whiteboard. When used with a whiteboard, one projector mode reduces the brightness level for eye protection. An IR remote frequency change function enables the frequency to be changed directly from the menu. The projector has a brightness of 3,200 lumens and a 2,000:1 contrast ratio and offers closed captioning. Its hybrid filter needs maintenance only once every 5,000 hours. Projecting Special Features Mobile Management Hobsons’ Mobile CRM, the mobile version of its CRM tool for education, enables admissions and enrollment officers to have real-time access to the web-based CRM site while on the road. The tool works with most common smartphones. Users can add, edit, or search for contacts from their devices, accessing contact records or an entire communication plan. Reporting can be done via the mobile device, as well. The mobile interface includes a “submit a suggestion” link so users can propose ideas for improving the application. App for Lecture Capture The Tegrity iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad App has a number of new features that enable students to stream live or recorded lectures directly onto these devices. Students can select an “unclear” button to bookmark a spot in a lecture they may not understand and can later access the spot directly and share it with classmates. For finding a lecture, they can also use a text search function that provides a list of matches from an entire course. The app is free for Tegrity Campus customers.
