Both have built-in two-sided printing to reduce paper waste and allow for instant warm-up for incoming print jobs while cutting down on power when idle. They also feature wireless models with 802.11n certification for delivering print jobs to other offices or classrooms. The six models in the Lexmark C540 color laser printer series have high-yield toner cartridges for saving on printing costs and feature a four-in-one color laser printhead that delivers precise color registration. Pricing ranges from $439 to $879. Also, the five models in the Lexmark X540 color laser multifunction printer series ($879 to $1,249) can print, copy, scan, and fax, with models ranging in speeds from 21 to 25 pages per minute in color and black and white. The Equitrac Express software suite from Kyocera Mita America aids in allocating printing cost control by securing and monitoring print-copy tracking on copiers, printers, and multifunction printers through a centrally managed location. Users can set control rules, reroute print jobs in situations such as when a machine is down, and determine how much a task would cost. The software integrates with leading campus card systems. Apple’s new MacBook family has been designed with efficiency and environmentally friendly factors in mind. The laptops have a unibody enclosure made from a single block of aluminum (rather than multiple parts) for a thinner, more durable shape. They contain LED-backlit displays and 3D graphic applications that perform up to five times faster than their predecessors. The glass multitouch trackpad on the MacBook and MacBook Pro acts as a button for users to click anywhere on it, making the switch between programs easier. The line meets Energy Star 4.0, EPEAT Gold, and RoHS standards, plus has PVC-free internal cables and components. Pricing starts at $1,299; the MacBook Air starts at $1,799 and the MacBook Pro at $1,999. Also, the LED Cinema Display, built to accompany the family, features a 24-inch LED-backlit widescreen display with an iSight video camera, mic, and speakers. The device is capable of displaying up to four individual computer presentations at once. Designed for ceiling mo u nt i ng , t he p ro j e c t o r ’ s maintenance and part replacement are simple due to the positioning of the lamp door on top and a side-mounted filter. A hybrid filter also makes part replacement less frequent. The projector’s inorganic LCD panels (which have a high resistance to light) aid in extending the projector’s lifespan while still maintaining sharp picture quality. A bayonet lens can support up to four optional lenses to meet specific needs, such as the size of a room and environment. The lens can also be adjusted manually to change how the image is placed.
