4 HM in Motion focuses on Inspiring Science,
24 HM's All-School "A Midsummer Night's Dream"
Encouraging Community, Promoting Wellness and
Strengthening Athletics

On September 15, 2016, Horace Mann School's future was highlighted by the launch of the school's HM in Motion capital campaign.
Building upon HM's legacy of academic achievement, with the
campaign's focus on Inspiring Science, Encouraging Community,
Promoting Wellness and Strengthening Athletics, HM in Motion will
further advance and enhance the educational experience of current
students and students of generations to come.

10 Horace Mann School alumni address current

issues in their work and communal involvement.

Generations of Horace Mann School graduates have dedicated
their work or service to addressing social issues of critical significance. HM alumni of today are equally dedicated to following this
important direction. This issue of Horace Mann Magazine looks at
four alumni from over the decades whose pursuits are impacting
their areas of concern. Lara Setrakian '00 is transforming today's
media with her News Deeply news site. Hasan Stephens '95 provides mentors for "at-risk" youth through his Good Life Foundation.
Dr. Raymond Levy '66 addresses the same population, but through
their fathers, as founder and director of The Fatherhood Project,
and Stella Lee '95, with her partners at the architecture firm
Bureau V, applies an innovative approach to the urban landscape.
The transformative work of alumni will continue to be covered in
coming issues of Horace Mann Magazine. But, before that, this
issue also features a story on Dr. Stephen Sheppard's '53 interest in
reminding the world of a particularly positive and inclusive episode
of U.S. history, through his personal museum celebrating the
Columbian World's Exposition of 1893.

Corrections: An article in the Summer 2016 issue of Horace Mann Magazine about
Horace Mann School's work with England's Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC)
inadvertently left out Sandy Rubenstein, Fifth Grade Team Leader and Fifth Grade
Reading Teacher among the HM teachers studying the RSC's approach to teaching the
works of William Shakespeare. Rubenstein has been an active member of this group
of teachers, and assisted in the February 2017 all-school production of "A Midsummer
Night's Dream." She is currently teaching "Romeo and Juliet" with HM's fifth graders.
We are sorry for this omission.
A Class Note in the last issue for the Class of 1955 mentioned Harris Brodsky's '55
report that the Class of 1956 continues to get together for luncheons in Manhattan
every few months. The note mistakenly stated "the Class of 1956" instead of "the Class
of 1955." We regret this error.
