News of the School
excellent, well-rounded education and opportunities for immersion in
athletics, the arts, enriched co-curricular activities, community service"
and more. In terms of his work on behalf of HM, the future also includes
continuing to attend to important issues for the school, such as growing
the diversity of the student and employee population and building upon
the already strong curriculum, "particularly in the STEM subjects." In
addition, Colacino is focused on assisting HM improve facilities to enable
the school to serve its students at the highest level, and its faculty to fully
realized their teaching talents.
Now in his second year as Chair of the Horace Mann School Board
of Trustees, Colacino's overall objective for HM is to "keep producing
kids who are well-prepared, self-regulating, and have a capacity to
find their purpose in life. That's most important. Tom and Steve (the
former Board Chair) would always talk about 'purposefulness' as being
one of the major things that you accomplish by getting through HM.
In summary, the two key words in my aspirations for HM students are
'balanced' and 'ready.' Those are the kinds of kids we want to produce."
